Q1 — Independent t-test: Two diets are tested on separate groups. Diet X (n=15): mean weight loss = 4.2kg, s = 1.1kg Diet Y (n=15): mean weight loss = 5.1kg, s = 1.3kg At α = 0.05, is there a significant difference? Assume equal variances.

Q2 — Welch’s vs Independent: Same data as Q1, but Diet Y has s = 3.8kg instead. Should you use independent t-test or Welch’s now? Why? Recompute using Welch’s and compare the result.
